Solar panels take advantage of the most abundant energy source, THE SUN, and the way in which they function is actually a lot more simple than you may think:

  • During hours of sunlight, the solar cells within solar panels absorb energy
  • Within the solar cells, there are circuits that take the energy and turn it into direct current (DC) energy
  • The DC energy is then passed through an inverter that converts it into alternating current (AC) energy that will feed to your home for your consumption
  • You will either consume this energy, send it back to the grid or store it within a solar battery storage system

Each solar system we install on Long Island has an internet-connected monitoring system. You can go online and see what every solar panel is producing in real-time.

Yes, solar systems do make power on rainy and snowy days, but at a level proportionately reduced to the diminished sunlight levels.

Terms and Conditions

Customers will receive $500 off their solar system contract, with payment issued after system installation. Offer valid only for purchase-to-own contracts signed between 9/1/25 and 9/30/25 and cannot be combined with other promotions. SUNation clients are responsible for ongoing utility bill payments. Battery storage systems are only available for homes/buildings in PSEG-LI territory.

SUNation’s installation timeline applies to standard residential rooftop systems within its regular service areas and may be voided due to delays outside SUNation’s reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Municipal factors: Permitting delays, inspection schedules, code changes, or C.O. issues

  • Utility factors: Engineering reviews, upgrades, net metering/tariffs, or PTO delays

  • Customer factors: Delayed roof/structural work, unresolved code violations, financing issues, post-contract changes, or late responses

  • Supply chain issues: Shortages, backorders, transport disruptions, or force majeure

  • Other delays: Weather events, strikes, shutdowns, or government actions

“Substantially completed” means all major components are installed, and the system is ready to pass final inspection, even if PTO is still pending. Failure to meet these responsibilities releases SUNation from the timeline guarantee. Qualification for solar and/or storage installation depends on site conditions and other factors.
