Reports To:  Senior Project Manager

Basic FunctionThe Permit Expeditor is responsible for preparing permit submittal packages, as well as coordinating their efficient submittal and retrieval at a variety of local borough jurisdictions. This position prepares project folders and effectively communicates the status of each permit. The Permit Expeditor will interact with jurisdictional employees and work to resolve any redline issues and communicate any upcoming requirement changes.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with government agencies such as DOB
  • Travel to NYC Dept of Buildings (NYC, Brooklyn, Queens) to file applications and related documentation for initial filings, permits, amendments and sign offs
  • Review construction plans and documentation
  • File, track and coordinate multiple active filings (includes form preparation and signature coordination)
  • Work with Project Management department, DOB plan examiners, auditors and commissioners to resolve filing issues and objections
  • Prepare permit submittal packages in accordance with jurisdictional requirements
  • Submit permit packages via online systems, fax, or in person, if necessary
  • Pick up completed permit packages
  • Communicate with jurisdictional employees to understand any changes in permitting requirements
  • Track jurisdiction specific requirements and provide that information to the team
  • Work with local jurisdictions to move toward ideal permitting conditions
  • Communicate with jurisdictions, the Sales Team, Engineering Team and Installation Team members to resolve any redline issues
  • Support the administrative staff, including organization and maintenance of project folders, uploads of pictures, completion of finished folders and some light administrative work.

Required Skills:

  • Class 1 Expediter Filing Representative ID required
  • Minimum of 1 year expediting experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed
  • Attention to paperwork detail
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Maintain valid Driver’s License and must be willing to travel to multiple sites throughout the day
  • Proficient in Word, Excel and general computer usage.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to PV design and installation processes
  • Experience with construction permitting is preferred
  • Experience with salesforce.com and Basecamp a plus
  • Notary Public
